Debbie, to be a little off focus for the event in Orlando, I am not sure if
all are aware that in many other travels that we go on, we can use out of
city or state access to Para transportation as well by simply calling
themthe visited area ahead and doing the same type of preparation as well!
It is simply a matter of proving you are qualified in your home town/State
and most other Cities/States will accommodate us! Just wanted to advise
some that might not be aware of this service. Your friend in the cause,
Kirk

Subject: [fcb-l] Paratransit Eligibility for Visitors to Orlando
Hello Everyone,
I am pleased to provide you with information regarding how you can receive
up to 21 days of Paratransit access per year when you visit Orlando. It is
my hope that this information will enable you to enhance your stay in
Orlando during the 2011 Top Dog Workshop.
Here is a step by step explanation of what you must do in order to have
access to Paratransit in Orlando, FL and to reserve your rides.
Step 1. You must provide proof that you are eligible for Paratransit
services in your home area. To do this, ask your Paratransit provider to
fax a letter or a form that they use for this purpose, to ACCESS LYNX, the
Paratransit provider in Orlando, FL, at (407) 849-6759. The letter or form
must include your name and address, your eligibility status with your
Paratransit provider and the date that your current eligibility expires.
Step 2 The following information may be included in this document.
If it is not, you will be asked to provide it when you contact ACCESS LYNX
after they have received the faxed information from your Paratransit
provider. A. Do you travel with a personal care attendant? B. Do you
travel with a service dog? C. Do you travel with a mobility aid such as a
wheelchair, walker or any other mobility aid that enhances your mobility?
C. What dates will you be in Orlando? D. What is the physical address
where you will be staying while visiting Orlando?
Step 3. You should contact your Paratransit provider to request that
the document described above be faxed to ACCESS LYNX at (407) 849-6759
sometime during the second week of December.
Step 4. Wait three or four hours after your Paratransit provider has
notified you that the document has been faxed to ACCESS LYNX before phoning
the Eligibility Department at (407) 423-8747 (407) 423 trip) to verify that
your information has been received. (note: To reach the Eligibility
Department, choose option six on the menu that you will hear when the call
goes through.) At that time, you will be asked to provide any information
that was not included in the letter or form from your Paratransit provider.
It is important to note that your Paratransit Provider must provide your
name, address, paratransit eligibility and the date that that eligibility
expires. You will be asked to provide any other required information. You
will be unable to proceed with the process of gaining visitor status access
to ACCESS LYNX until the ACCESS LYNX Eligibility Department has received the
written information described above from your Paratransit provider.
Step 5. When the ACCESS LYNX Eligibility Department verifies that
your information is in order, you will be given an identification number and
the dates of your eligibility status for ACCESS LYNX. Please be prepared to
capture this information in a format that will allow you to access it again
as you will be asked to provide it whenever you request a ride. You can
reach the Eligibility Department Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Step 6. From that time on, you will be able to schedule rides on
ACCESS LYNX by calling (407) 423-8747 within the dates of your eligibility.
You can reserve your rides anywhere from seven days to one day in advance of
your date of travel. When you reserve your ride, please remember to ask the
cost of a one-way trip. Depending on your travel distance, the price will
be either $4 or $7 for a one-way trip that will be collected when you board
the vehicle. The reservations line at (407) 423-8747 is open from 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week. To check on your trip or to cancel a trip,
Customer Service (407) 423-8747 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a
week. If possible, the best time to call and make trip requests or travel is
between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Please remember that if you reserve Paratransit transportation to meet you
at the train or bus station or at the airport, reserve your ride at least
one hour after your arrival time in order to allow for a late arrival and to
insure that you have the time to reach the area where you will be met. Be
sure to clarify exactly where you are to proceed in order to meet your
vehicle.
If you have further questions, please call the ACCESS LYNX Eligibility
Department at (407) 423-8747 and choose option six.
I hope that this information will be of assistance to you as you register
for Paratransit services during your stay in Orlando.
Respectfully,
Debbie Grubb,
Event Coordinator
