I would start with finding out the name of your local bus company, and
give them a call. You might also try the Council on Aging if you have one
there.

          Hi Mike.

It is my understanding according to the ADA, that a person must
live within 3/4th mile of a fixed route bus to be eligible, however, there
is another program called transportation disadvantaged, TD, which is
available for those who do not meet the requirement of the 3/4 mile. You
might want to mention that to the lady who needs assistance.

            Hi Kirk,
I want to see if my county will extend it beyond 3/4 mile.
I thought I'd read somewhere that the ADA law reads between 3/4
and 2 miles. Am I correct?
I personally know people who live past the 3/4 mile and can't
get Para Transit.

A woman I know bought their dream house 15 years ago.
She got divorced and the kids moved out.
She is just starting to slowly go blind, due to macular
degeneration.

So now, she lives by herself and can't drive or get Para
transit, and she has to beg, borrow and steal someone just to get a ride!

I know, this kind of thing happens to a lot of people.
Its just that it really hits home when it happens to someone you
know.

I don't know if I'll do any good, but I'll try.

I'd appreciate any advice that anyone can give me.
            Thanks, .... Mike

Mike, it is up to the individual counties to decide if they
wish to extend the three quarter mile rule on an indivvidual basis. I am,
however, going to start to ask for the extention of Jacksonvilles perimeter
as well as it is growing fast westerly, and it needs to expand it's three
quarter rule to accomidate all. Kirk

                Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get a list of the names of all
the Florida counties with Para Transit service?

I need some ammo, as we are putting together a way to extend
our Para transit eligibility rule from 3/4 mile out to 2 miles.
I'd like to call every Para transit in Florida and ask what
their eligibility requirements are.

I tried googling it, but came up empty.
I know its out there, somewhere.

If someone can give me a link to the state's list, I'd
really appreciate it.

                Thanks, ... Mike
