Kirk,
Good idea!
I'll pass it around the table, at our next board meeting.
Thanks,.Mike

Mike, why don't you try out your new found friends in the local government
and see if the director of public safety would like to try and cross the
street blindfolded with one of your local mobility instructors from VIP?
Give her/Him a new perspective about our pedestrian concerns! Make sure you
have the good old media their to watch them walk and plug her for caring
enough, you know? It would be great PR for our, and their agendas! I am
going to try and get some of our Councelpersons to come on out and get a
feel of it for their own experience of our constant travel experiences on a
day to day basis. Kirk

Hi Ho everyone!
I had brought up at the convention business meeting, doing a unified White
Cane Day Walk this year.
It did not get voted in, due to a lot of chapters already having planned
their White Cane Day things on a week day instead of Saturday October 15.
This was because of their respective official's scheduling, and is quite
understandable.
So it was kind of thrown about with the West coast chapters, to do a West
Coast version of a unified White Cane Day Walk.
So, my question is, Who wants in?
My chapter, Southwest Florida Council of the Blind, has already been
committed to doing ours on Saturday October 15 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
We are doing it at the intersection that leads into Lakes Park, where we
will walk to after our walk and participate in the 8th annual Vision
Awareness Walk A Thon.
While doing our White Cane Day Walk, we will have a Certified O and M
instructor blindfolding the news fox and teaching her how to cross a
Dangerous intersection. It works every time!
We will have the County sheriff's department on hand to hand out tickets to
any violators.
At last year's Walk, I almost did a one and a half summersault with a full
gainer over the hood of a rice burner stopped for the light in the
crosswalk! LOL!
Ah! The Half asleep Florida driver induced Blind gymnastics! I give him a
9.58 for style and a 10.00 for degree of difficulty!
Sorry, once again, I digress!
Anyway, I'd really like to do this unified White Cane Day Walk.
Any West coast chapters interested, give me a shout.
Thanks,.Mike
