To GDUI Membership,
The purpose of this letter is to notify you of a proposal to amend the GDUI
Constitution, which will be voted upon during the elections in May 2010.
The Constitution/Resolutions Committee received a request to review the
Constitution and to propose an amendment that would make it possible for
there to be more than one board member per state.
Currently, Article IV, subparagraph F states; "There shall be no more than
one (1) officers and no more than one (1) directors elected from any single
state, district, or possession except in the case of Secretary and Treasurer
who may be elected from and reside in the same state, district, or
possession as other officers and/or directors."
The Constitution/Resolutions Committee recommends that the above paragraph
be deleted in its entirety from the Constitution. They further recommend
that the paragraph be replaced with: "There shall beano more than three (3)
elected members of the Board of Directors from the same state, District, or
possession."
In accordance with procedures for amendments to the Constitution, we have
presented this recommendation to the GDUI Board of Directors for their
review. The review has been completed and the next step is to forward the
proposal to the members. Accordingly, this letter provides that
notification to the membership.
Further instructions for voting will be forthcoming, along with information
about the elections in May 2010.
Respectfully,
Lynn Duplessis
Chairperson, Constitution/Resolutions Committee
