Hi, Lisa & List:
I, too, went to GDB & had an outstanding experience. My dog, Melody, was so well bred and well trained. In recent years, GDB has incorporated a new "adult-learning-based" curriculum that takes into account the most effective modalities for adult learners. In my opinion, they did as good a job training the people as they did the dogs! They provide outstanding post-grad support and financial assistance for medical-related issues, such as vet visits and shots (for the dogs, of course). In the two and a half years I've had my dog, however, she hasn't been sick or had any ear, skin or urinary tract infections that tend to pop up every once in awhile with dogs. She was extremely well-bred, with excellent hips & joints to date and her vet claims she has the heartbeat of an athlete.
About the only drawback to GDB has been that most trainees did not have private rooms, but even that is in the process of changing. They are beginning an extensive expansion of the facilities, which will include single rooms for future trainees. Another consideration might be that GDB has completely stopped breeding and training German Shepherds, so if that's your dog of choice, GDB is not where you'll want to apply. Other than that, though, I can't think of a single negative to share.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual, but the program is rigorous and full of practical experiences. The only times we dressed up for anything were 1) picture taking, 2) an off-campus Christmas program we attended at a local church and 3) Graduation. Everyone in the entire place was friendly and respectful and totally supportive of the desired success of every team.
Besides all this, the food was totally awesome, we got fresh towels every day and we got so much free stuff for the dogs that it took an extra suitcase to hold it all!
I could babble on and on, but I guess you have probably gotten the general idea that I will very happily go back to GDB and enthusiastically recommend it to others who are considering schools.
Kae & Melody, too!

Hi,
I don't post often, but wondered if those that have been to more than one school can give input of schools that have the best trained dogs, friendliest, and overall best rating? I have only been to one, GDB, but I would like eventually to try another school when it comes that time. thanks

Regarding Seeing Eye's dress code, I was just there and came home June 4th and we were not asked or required to dress up for lunch or any other meal. I do think that if there was going to be a board of trustees meeting, they might ask students not to wear shorts for that meal . but they don't say you have to wear a dress shirt or skirt. It's quite relaxed.

hi kim or anyone else who has been to seeing eye in the past year.
someone told me that the dress code there is formal again. for lunch we used to have to dress up either by wearing a formal pants suit or a dress or skirt and blouse.
when i went in 2008 we could actually go to lunch in shorts.
my question is have they gone back to there formal way of dressing for lunch?
