Carol Leigh Buford

 

Carol Leigh Buford, Louisville, KY, age 52, took the hand of her guardian angel, as she went to her heavenly home on Monday, July 5, 2010, at 2:40 am.  She fought a vallient fight against carcinoid liver cancer.   A 1976 graduate of Lone Oak High School, Paducah, KY.  For 20 years she owned and operated Security Taxicab Inc, a regional transportation company with her husband.  She personally transported many seriouly ill children to Louisville and Nashville for treatment.  Carol most recently worked in the Dietary Department, at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, KY.  A member of the Lone Oak Church of Christ, Paducah, KY and the Westport Road Church of Christ, Louisville, KY.  She often volunteered to work in the nursery, prepare food, and assist with Vacation Bible School.  Her interests included the Lionsess Club where she was the Treasurer for 10 years, Girl Scout Leader, bowling leagues, her beloved Shetland Sheepdog "Happy", and assisting the visually impaired community with transportation..  

She is survived by her husband of 27 years Darrell Buford, her daughter Katie Buford, son, Kevin Buford, and her Mother Bettie Krone Stom.  Preceeded her in death was her Father, Hardie Stom and Sister, Mollie Sullenger.  

Arrangements are being coordinated by Rick Hughes, Hughes Funeral Home, 2975 Old Husbands Road, Paducah, KY 42003-9604, (270) 415-1885, with visitation at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, July 8, 2010.  The celebration of life service will be at the Lone Oak Church of Christ, 2960 Lone Oak Road, Paducah, KY 42003-8098, (270) 554-2511, at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 9, 2010, with visitation at the church beginning at 12:30 pm.   Ministers Jamey Boone and Arnis Pape will be officiating, with Randy Baumgardner and Andy Clausen leading singing.  Entoumbment will be in the Chapel Mausoleum, Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6965 Old US Highway 45,Paducah, KY 42003-9299, (270) 554-1366.  For friends and co-workers in Louisville, KY a memorial service will be held at the Westport Road Church of Christ, 4500 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40207, (502) 893-0342, on Tuesday July 13, 2010 at 6:00 pm, with Minister Arnis Pape officiating.   

Memorial gifts may be made to the Alumni Association, Kentucky School for the Blind, c/o Darrell Buford, 10938 Symington Circle, Louisville, KY 40241-1344.  Monitary donations will directly benefit visually impaired children from across the state, now attending the Kentucky School for the Blind.
