Subject: Clifton Preservation: Tomorrow starts important series of meetings
Dear Friends of Preservation in Clifton,
Several important meetings are coming up relating to Preservation in Clifton. I hope those of us concerned about this crucial issue will have a presence at all these meetings. On Landmarks Guidelines: most of us who support Preservation in Clifton believe that the Guidelines need to be revised to permit more flexibility for property owners while maintaining the historic integrity of the historic structures in our neighborhood. The process of review and revision of the guidelines will start with a series of meetings on the Windows Guidelines, beginning 11/10 below.
11/9/10, TOMORROW, Tuesday: Clifton Quarterly Meeting, 7:00 pm, Clifton Center, Clifton Avenue between Frankfort and Payne
Richard Jett from the Louisville Metro Landmarks Commission will provide information on Clifton buildings listed on the National Register, and talk about
the difference between an Historic District, Preservation District and local designation of a structure.
11/10/10, Wednesday: 5:30 pm, United Crescent Hill Ministries, State Street at Frankfort Avenue
Clifton Architectural Review Committee (ARC) will
a.. hear 2 cases (I believe they both relate to windows)
b.. conduct open public work session on Windows Guidelines. These are important guidelines. This meeting will provide an opportunity for Clifton residents and property owners to have input into revision of these guidelines ahead of the formal public hearing.
11/17/10, Wednesday: 5:30, Metro Development Center, 444 S 5th St, Room 101
Clifton ARC will hold a Public Hearing on the Windows Guidelines document resulting from 11/10 work session.
11/29/10, Monday: 5:30, Location TBD
Landmarks Commission will consider Clifton Window Guidelines revisions recommended by Clifton ARC from 11/17 meeting.
Please circulate this to others concerned about Preservation in Clifton. Call me if you have any questions.
