[indiana-l] Suggestions for Face Book

Luis,

Several of your Bosma friends are Facebook users. I think you should at
least give it a try. It is a great way to stay connected with current
and past acquaintances, connect with groups/organizations/business/etc.

The sign up process may prove challenging, but after that there really
isn't a problem. Personally, I prefer to use the regular site as I take
advantage of the applications (e.g. Mafia Wars). The registration
process will most likely involve a visual capcha but there should be an
option to have it spoken.

Once you are registered, explore the site; there is a link for help that
has lots of information about how to use Facebook. I found the help
files beneficial but basically just figured out everything on my own.

If you only want to communicate with people, and not use any of the
applications, the mobile site may prove easier for you. Once you are
registered with Facebook, log in at the mobile site by going to
http://www.m.facebook.com
using the same E-mail address and password that was established during
the registration process.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing you on Facebook. Take care.

It certainly is doable. I would look back at some of the AccessWorld
issues from earlier this year as there has been an article or two. I
managed to set up an account and I don't think I had to use Webism or
anything. I think there was an option for an audible captia. Some people
like the mobile and/or lite version of Facebook as they are less
cluttered. I use Window-eyes most of the time but have accessed it with
JAWS as well. I'm sure it works just fine with NVDA and System Access
too.

John, that's some of what I've heard and I'm quickly losing mine
as well unless somebody can tell me something different. I guess my
next question to that is how easy is it to manage it once it's been
created.

	Peace

		Hi, Luis,

I'm personally acquainted with only a very few blind
computer users who use FaceBook. They all--and keep in mind it's a very
small number--needed sighted assistance to complete setup of their
accounts. When I found that out, I quickly lost my appetite for the
brave new world of social networking. I have no experience with
MySpace, so have no idea if it would be easier to use.

If other users know tricks that would make navigating
such sites easier, I'd welcome seeing them posted here.

Thanks, all and happy networking--if you're successfully
doing so. JH

Good Afternoon everyone, I was just wondering,
since you hear so many things about people Face Booking and My Space
accounts and I know there are blind people creating accounts on a daily
basis, but is there a simple way of creating an account?

I'm not completely sure on creating one of these
accounts, so what should I be looking for. I understand it's not the
easiest to create one.

			Peace
			Luis
