Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the ADA on July 26th
ADA-Indiana and the Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities are hosting the State Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. We are inviting Hoosiers from all over the State to come and join us for our State's ADA Celebration.
Celebration Highlight: One of the commemoratives ADA-Indiana will be giving away at the Celebration is the 20th Anniversary Poster from the Great Lakes ADA Center (see the excerpt to the left). The Poster features the artwork of the winning entry in their ADA Poster Contest. Best of all, Amber Ramirez is from Indiana, and Amber and her family hope to make it down to the Celebration! We will have limited copies of the 20th Anniversary Poster, so if you would like one, get one early!
Celebration Highlight: The "What's Important to Me" Art Show will provide a wonderful backdrop for our Celebration event. The "What's Important to Me" Art Show has been and will be touring Indiana throughout this year. The full collection is at the Indianapolis Marion County Library through August 3rd.
Thanks to IPMG for helping us showcase some of the works from this Collection.
What else? Music, Booth Exhibitors, Dancing, Celebration Cake, 20th Anniversary Commemoratives, and other fun stuff.
Plan to be there on Monday, July 26th for the Celebration!

Other Celebration Events and Activities
The Grade is in! More than 800 Hoosiers participated in the "The ADA in Your Community" Poll (the ADA Poll) that was conducted by the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community. (The project was funded by the Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities, and the DBTAC: Great Lakes ADA Center.)
The ADA Report Card is ready to take home. All Grades are final. Pick up your copy of Indiana's Report Card at the ADA-Indiana booth at the Celebration. (You can also download it online.)
Have you watched and listened to some of the ADA Stories from Indiana? We have released them in the months leading up the Celebration. These are stories range from advocates recalling the early years leading up and after the passage of the ADA (especially like the one from Ric Edwards about Justin Dart coming to town) to advocates talking about what they are doing in their community to make the ADA a reality.
While you are there on our YouTube Channel, check out our Playlists. Our 20th Anniversary Playlist includes YouTube videos from the ADA National Network, AAPD, and advocates, released for the 20th Anniversary. Have you heard the "ADA Anthem" or "I'm a Yankee Doodle Advocate"?
The ADA National Network are trying to reach 2010 signees by July 26, 2010. Help them reach their goal, and help Indiana have a strong showing on the National Proclamation List. (Indiana has 55 proclamations!) Ask your work, your city or town, your county government, your school or college, and even any businesses you frequently use, to join in a "Proclamation of Recommitment" to the spirit of the ADA. It's easy. You can submit your Proclamation online. Visit ADA-Indiana's 2010 by 2010 webpage to find out more about the 2010 by 2010 Campaign.
Local ADA Celebrations - Some communities are hosting their local Celebrations of the 20th Anniversary. We know of Celebrations taking place in Bloomington, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Terre Haute. Visit our website to find out more about these Local Celebration events.
