[mountainstate] Facebook v.s twitter vs. myspace

Hi. Well, to get their stuff on these Twitter sites and even the text
messages, I guess they just get really used to abbreviating everything like
that. How they figure it out so quickly is beyond me. <LOL> I've had them
sit in therapy and text message to who knows who during the session when
they thought they were getting by with it. I let them do it just to observe
their behavior and it is incredible! They'll actually have a discussion with
me with their fingers flying on the keys, then I hear a message come through
to which they respond. <LOL> Pretty incredible, and I thought I was a
multi-tasker.
They are pretty shocked when I stop this interchange and then more so when
we put our cell phones over on another table out of both our teach together.
<LOL> Mine really doesn't need to be there but, fair is fair, and I don't
ask clients to do anything I'm unwilling to do myself so, when I ask them to
remove cell phone from their person, so do I and they lie happily over on
the "you don't need it" table. Purses, jewelry and books, games, etc. go
there too if these things become so distracting they remove from the session
at hand.
I'm not one of these cushy therapists who have stuffed animals, pillows and
all these comfy things to hold in my office; just me, the dog and them so we
get through. <smiles>
