[mountainstate] Sleep issues

Hi Paula, Sleep problems are very common for blind people. There have been numerous studies about this, actually. There are a lot
of things to suggest that light changes, seasonal patterns and the like have to do with it. I'm back to Mela tonin now to get my
body regulated because it thinks I should be asleep two to three hours after it gets dark. Obviously, I cannot go to sleep at 7:00
or 8:00, but I would very much like to be. So I fight and fight that urge, then don't sleep well because I'm not sleepy with all
the caffeine and genseng or fighting with exercise, etc. that I do. By the time I do allow myself to sleep, it is 1:00 or 2:00 in
the morning, then its 6:00 and time to get up and I'm worthless the rest of the day. So now, I'm going to take Mellatonin and get
back on some semblance of a regular schedule.
My migraines have come back with a vengance because of sleep deprivation and stress and I'm starting to feel just run down.
And my job is requiring 12 hour days, five and six days a week now. So, I obviously need sleep.
So, my new deal is: phone goes off at 10:00 and I go to sleep. People can deal with it or be miserable about it--their choice, but
I'm going to sleep, I hope. <smiles>
I've always had sleep issues and they started right after I lost my sight. I got my days and nights mixed up and mom had a devil
of a time getting things regulated and we never really did, no matter what I've done, but the Mellatonin does help.
