Well Lisa, the good thing about this is, you get more done. Hmm, maybe this is a good slogan for older people: oldies get more done. <grin>
I like it!
Welcome to the list, by the way.
Do you live in WV and if so, what part?
I do, Martinsburg and I'm one of the moderators.

LOL! Sorry Paula, you did not mention an age, I just know - from experience - after age 40 I seemed to need less sleep. Plus (digging myself out of doghouse) you sounded so mature and intellectual!

I have always said that in Spain, Mexico and other countries had it right with their scheduled siesta. When I was in Spain, that schedule of businesses closing from 2:00-5:00 in the afternoon was hard to get used to. Boy, the streets are still hopping at 10:00 at night. Just about every day around 1:30 or 2:00 in the afternoon, I get very sleepy. I don't think my boss would agree to me taking a nap. Take care everyone. Donna

> Wow. It must be nice to be able to take a nap in the afternoon.
> Actually, the natural body rhythm is designed that we are supposed to be able to take a nap in the afternoon. Americans have it all wrong in that we expect to get 8 hours of sleep at night, then stay up 16 and sleep another 8 hours. Well, that's not the way the natural body was intended to work at all.
> What the body was designed to do was go to sleep at dark or shortly thereafter, wake up at daylight, and then take a brief nap in the middle of the day (somewhere around 1:00 or 2:00. That is why\ in Mexico and other central American countries they do have, and honor, a siesta for all people. And they nap or at least rest the body and mind, then return to their work and complete the day.
> So here, we are expected to work rediculously long hours and equally crazy shifts, if we are lucky enough to have to work, and we wonder why we cannot sleep after keeping ourselves awake all day long with Caffeine and other stemulants. Or, we don't work, sit around half the day in lala land or on equal stemulants and then wonder why we have sleep problems. Go figure. <smiles>
> But they keep making big dollars with all the sleep research and sleep medications and sleep this and that they are doing to tell us what the problems are. <LOL>
