This is the article and picture that was in the Martinsburg Journal on Oct. 16 of
our TC 2009 scholarship winner. Christian is a wonderful recipient and he will no
doubt go far in life. We are proud to present our first Cesarina Capriotti Wysong
Memorial Scholarship to him. We had lots of family from both the Wysong side and
Christian's side. As many of you know, Lisa Mathews, Christian's mom, was instrumental
in getting the WV legislature to pass the low vision driving bill. In fact, Christian
now has his driver license using bioptic lenses!
RESIDENT GETS SCHOLARSHIP
The Tri-County Chapter of Mountain State Council of the Blind presented its first Cesarina Capriotti Wysong Memorial Scholarship
to Christian Shifflett on September 27. Christian is a 2009 graduate of Musselman High School and is attending Hagerstown
Community College. He is legally blind. He received a check for $500 and a plaque from the group during brunch at the Epic
Buffet at Charles Town Races and Slots. From left are Locke Wysong Sr., Christian Shifflett, Cesarina Wysong, and Locke Wysong Jr.
The late Cesarina (Mary) Capriotti Wysong of Charles Town was a member of the TCMSCB Chapter.
NOTE: Thank you, Kathy, for writing this and making this happen! -- Jessie
