Subject: [leadership] ACB's Comments on FCC's Public Notice on Advanced
Communications

Shortly after the President signed The Twenty-First Century Communications
and Video Accessibility Act , the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
issued a public notice seeking comments from industry and the advocacy
community concerning specific provisions from Title I of the new law which
deals with access to wireless devices. This in essence begins the
regulatory process for this area of the new law. Below is a link that
provides the comprehensive comments that ACB has submitted.

These comments provide the FCC guidance on how we wish to have the new
definition of achievable handled along with our view on what nominal cost
means or should mean to industry and the blind or visually impaired
consumer. There are a multitude of other provisions that ACB provides
comment on in this filing. Many thanks to Pratik Patel and the Information
Access Committee for their hard work in preparing what are thorough
comments.

There will be more rule makings started in the coming months. ACB is
committed to insuring that the new law is implemented in a way that is
consumer focused so that blind and visually impaired consumers will be able
to get the most bang for their buck in the coming years when purchasing
wireless devices.
