[mountainstate] Membership

Gerry,
We do have a membership committee, and they are working. As has been stated in other messages, membership is down in many organizations due primarily to the staggering economy. In West Virginia transportation is a nightmare. I agree with Jessie that it's time to think outside the box by using Skype or some other type of conference calling system for meetings and convention sessions. I think this is definitely feasible for next year.
Along with recruiting new members, retention of members is just as critical. Let's all work together for the organization. We will be more successful.

I think this organization needs to work on getting more
members into the MSCB. Please don't take offence but at
the State convention there was very little attendance and
we need to start promoting membership if the organization
is to exsist. We need to advertise about MSCB and also make
contact with those who are blind or visually impaired in our state
and around our local chapters. Just this talk list shows that very
few use it except the ones that always have and we need to try
and get the other members on this also. I think we need to start
a recrutement program before there is no organization to recrute for !
