[nabs] College Textbooks on the web

Hi Netta,
I completely understand. When I was in high school and using audio textbooks, I had to give myself specific things to look for so I would focus and not sleep.
Have you ever come across publishers who seem to not have a clue as to what an ebook is? When my husband was in ministerial studies for a while, we contacted the publisher of his textbooks to ask about Ebooks or pDF/Word formats.
They acted clueless, and when we pointed out that the book had to be in some computer format they wouldn't devolge that information. Needless to say, he relied on at times poor quality audio textbooks.

uI have some sight in my left eye but none in the right. I am also a JAWS
user and so far, the sites that I have used are accessible. When I receive
my books, I always look for the website of the publishers and go there to
"fish" around to see what I can find. Many of publishers can provide you
with a web based book or ebook upon request because the textbook had to
debeloped or be birthed from somewhere and since typewriters are now
obsolete it is usually the computer. My counselor and I have discovered
that ebooks are usually not offered unless it is asked for. So, for the most
part, I have 3-4 copies of the textbook-the hard copy, the PDF or word copy,
the ebook is available, and the RFBD copy. Which one do I utilize the
most...the word and/PDF one if the ebook is not available. For whatever
reason, I can listen audio books for pleasure but when it comes to reading
for education purposes...I fall fast asleep Lol.

Hi,
I am new to this list, and will be attending college starting in 2012-2013
for my BA with a major in music.
For those of you using the online textbook portals, do you have any sight at
all? I ask, because I am totally Blind and curious if these systems would be
accessible for JAWS. Also, are there multiple systems available to colleges
and professors? Or, is there a main one used by most/all colleges?
Thanks in advance, and have a great day!
In Christ, Miranda

BlankCan you return the book to the bookstore and just purchase the portal?

Hi,
I am going to be taking a Spanish class. I bought the book because I did
not know that you could buy the code by it's self.
Thank you!
Have a great day!
