Hi,
Ok, now I'm curious if anyone can give their experiences with different publishers and how accomidating they were/weren't in regards to textbooks?
I'm not trying to start a flaming war or debate by asking this, I simply want to know what I may be up against as I work with various publishers in obtaining my textbooks in an accessible format.
Thanks, and have a great day!

In Christ, Miranda

Laura:
When I took my psychology class and had trouble navigating the site, my
professor Dr. Dan Bellack contacted the publishers and they gave me a call
and "walked" me through it. He also provided me with other resources as far
the textbook was concerned since he was a contributing author of the
material. When I spoke to the folks at Wiley and Sons publishing, it was a
great learning experience because they were willing to be so accomodating
and helpful. They spent about 3 hrs for about 4 days with me going over just
about every aspect of the site so that the learning field would be as equal
as possible. The person heard about JAWS and while he was interested, he
didn't spend alot of time questioning me about the ins and outs of the
program. When I had to use the same site the next semester, the same person
helped me again and I was glad to hear JAWS talking on his end in the
background. He told me that they went and purchased a copy after talking to
me because they wanted to be prepared should they encounter another blind
student...I was like WOW! So, when we went through the site for the class I
was taking he was even more patient and helpful. Unfortunately, I didn't
have a Wiley & Sons publishing textbook for Developmental PSY next semester
but the new publishing co was still great.
I sent both a letter of appreciation for the experience.
