That's a great suggestion, and I'm not sure why I didn't think of it. Thanks! However, I'd still like to know if anyone can speak to the legality of this or how financial aid works with publishers who require this.

  Hi,

Could he find almost the same edition from sites such as Bookshare and RFBD?

  Cheers,

  Joseph

  Hello everyone:

Someone I know has run in to a situation with which I am unfamiliar. He is trying to get his textbooks in electronic format for the fall semester. Disability services will not scan the books because apparently the publisher won't allow them to. The publisher is requiring that he buy the electronic copy directly from the publisher. The problem is that I guess financial aid won't cover that since he's not purchasing from the university bookstore. I'll admit, I'm a little confused by all of this. Does anyone have any experiences with this? One of the publishers, ironically enough, is the American Federation of the Blind.

Are he and I just missing something here? Is this legal? Thanks for anything you guys may have to offer on this matter.

  Laura
