>>> Here you go. I hope you find my answers helpful:
>>>
>>> 1. What technology do you use on a daily basis? VRStream, Braille display, JAWS
>>> 2. How did you obtain the technology? Through an agency? Through other funding? Did you pay for it out of your own pocket? The Office for the Blind bought some, I bought some out-of-pocket.
>>> 3. What, if any, access challenges do you experience while using technology? Reading PDF files with pictures in them; getting high-quality scanned documents using OpenBook 8.
>>> 4. Does your school have assistive technology available for your use? If yes, what do they provide? The library I found out today has a VisualTek or whatever they're called any more, but it won't do me any good since I'm totally blind. That is all I know about so far.
>>> 5. Have you considered using mainstream technology products, such as apple products to achieve your goals? If yes, do you use these products? Do they adequately meet your needs, or do you still need assistive devices, such as braille displays or other screen readers to accomplish daily tasks? Yes, if I could find out what types of files the iPad will read and get an opportunity to listen to its speech to see how well I can understand it, I've considered using it for reading PDF files rather than using the AdobeReader 9 program I have. I can't say if it will help me like I'm looking for since I've not had a chance to try it at this point.
