It sounds as though you might have a good reason to purchase the soft pack. 
Of course, there are ways to convert PDF to text and docx documents can be 
turned into doc or text files pretty easily.  I really never had a need to 
turn live recordings into MP3's or wav files.   I just listened to the 
lectures in the format they were recorded in on the Victor.  Unfortunately, 
my Victor has come up missing.  I seem to have left it in class, and no one 
has seen it.  I have a Book Sense that does everything does, but I still 
miss Victor.
