Welcome to the list Steve.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."-Mariann Williamson

Greetings!
I just sent off what I think is only my second posting to the list, and it occurred to me that perhaps I should introduce myself.
My name is Steve, and I've been lurking on the list for a few months now as maybe a semi-imposter: I am indeed a student (at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit), but I'm not blind. Or at least not blind yet. I was diagnosed last summer with retinitis pigmentosa, which typically leads to pretty significant visual impairment (and sometimes to total blindness). At this point, though, my own vision is still just fine; the RP symptoms are still very minor.
I've been hanging out on the list primarily to hear about other people's experiences, and how you manage in the academic environment. I hope you don't my eavesdropping!
Steve
