You can if you place them on a standard thumb drive with no software in a
folder called audio+podcasts if you have the higher quality machine. I
don't know about the basic machine.

Hello Allison,

I don't know who told you that you could play mp3 files on the nls player.
It is my understanding that it will only recognize nls books.

Since the player has some of the characteristics of the Victor Reader, like
using the concept of the bookshelf, people might be thinking that it is just
a larger Victor, that is not the case.

I would be very surprised if the nls player would recognize any other files
but nls files.

For a player that is sent to patrons free of charge, I believe that NLS did
a very good job in designing something that, so far, library patrons have
very little trouble using.

The digital recorder Olympus whitch some of us have, has a podcast folder
and will accept mp3 files. The music folder on the Victor will accept mp3
files. You can also download books to the victor from Audible.com, once you
sign up with them.

That is what I understand to be the situation.

Jay

Hello,
I was told that I could play MP3s on the player by creating a folder called

audio plus podcasts and putting the MP3 file in it. I did that and it shows

up on my thumb drive, but when I put it in my player, it isn't there. What
am I doing wrong?
