Contemporary art is the theme of October 21 Portland Art Museum tour for the blind and people with limited vision
This month's Portland Art Museum tour for people who are blind or have limited vision will focus on paintings, sculptures, photographs and multi-media works by contemporary artists. The tour will take place on Thursday, October 21 at 2:30 p.m. , and will last about an hour.
Participants meet inside the main entrance of the museum, at 1219 SW Park Avenue. Experienced docents provide extended visual descriptions to help attendees appreciate the art works, and groups are kept small to encourage questions and discussion. Folding seats are provided, and participants will be assisted as needed. The gallery is wheelchair accessible; service dogs are welcome.
The Portland Art Museum sponsors a tour for the blind and those with limited vision on the third Thursday of each month. There is no charge for the tours, but there is a $12 entrance fee ($9 for senior citizens) for those who are not members of the Portland Art Museum.
