Scott,
I'm not sure why you have such a negative outlook about the CI, but I'm sure you have a good reason. Let me explain something to you. I have Meniere's Disease. This disease alone can cause severe scarring of the inner ear. The treatments for Meniere's Disease can cause severe scarring internally and externally as well. One day I expect I will no longer be able to hear. So, I don't see scarring as a deterrent to exploring or trying the CI. Thank you for your concern, but scarring of the ear; internally and externally is already a part of my life. If...the CI does cause scarring, which will more than likely be minimal, I feel I have much to gain by my trying it. Some people are candidates for the CI, and Unfortunately, there are those who are not good candidates. I am to believe I am a good candidate for a CI, and when the time comes, scarring will be the least of my concerns. I'm going to try. It might work, or, it just might not work. but regardless, at least I can find peace knowing that I at least tried.
Again, thank you for your concern and bringing this to my attention.
Theresa
