Just clarification on this message-these funds are going to nonprofit
organizations for the building/establishment etc of 202 and 811 housing
programs. If an agency in an area you are interested in is filing for the
housing you should contact the agency directly. With 202 and 811 housing
they are required to take applications from eligible individuals and place
them on a waiting list. The earlier you get on the list the better chance
you have. So, lets say 50 apartments are being planned and 100 people apply.
The first 50 who meet the income as well as the disability or age guidelines
would be taken. So, out of 100 people you may actually get 40 who are
totally eligible.

Thousands of senior citizens and persons with disabilities will soon be able
to find affordable housing, thanks to more than $550 million in housing
assistance announced by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD). The funding will provide interest-free capital advances to non-profit
developers so they can produce accessible housing, offer rental assistance
and provide supportive services for the elderly and persons with
disabilities. The grants are provided through HUD's Section 202 and Section
811 Supporting Housing programs and will fund 169 projects in 46 states.
