Karen thank you.  This is the answer I needed. Straight talk, your first
note brushing me off was hard to take.  I admit my own fla of getting angry
at the brush off.  Thank you for the answer.  I asked some of my ACB friends
as to structure of the organization. Now with what you have said and there
counsel, I have a much better and clearer picture of the differences. 

Congratulations on your appointment, respectful hugs.

The gal who asked what GDUI is.  GDUI stands for Guide Dog Users inc.
www.gdui.org.  This fine group advocates for us who handle dog guides,
locally, statewide with chapters, Nationally and internationally with the
governance affiliate.

I had to leave this morning for work which is why I did not have time to
explain this further.

In the case of the ALD, the $20 is for the entire conference and you get it
back when you turn in the ALD  before you leave.  If you go to the banquet,
there will be someone there to handle this after the banquetis over.

As for the difference between a committee and an affiliate, here goes.  A
committee is appointed by the President of ACB An affiliate elects its own
officers and has its own bylaws and treasury.  GDUI is an example of an
affiliate.  The Information Access Committee is another example of an ACB
committee.    There are several of these and some of them are mandated in
the Constitution and Byolaws.  However, look for that to be a topic of
discussion at the conference.

While we do have a small budget, this is received through ACB and goes
through the board.

There will be information regarding the convention in a separate post later
but before registration comes out.
