I have not used a GPS.  I am concerned that the units I might consider would 
either be too bulky or hard to hear.

I have bought a new Talking Maps product from APH.  When I get it, I will 
let you know how it does.  Unlike Google Maps and Mapquest, it will allow 
one to make up a route, and it will tell what landmarks are along the way, 
as giving what streets are in between.  One can actually move in a direction 
and what what one is virtually going by.

It is a bit steep in price $269 plus tax.  It comes on a thumb drive.
