Subject: [wisconsin] a poem about Mrs. Einerson
Hi everyone,
Jerry Maccoux, a 1976 graduate of WSVH, wrote the following poem about Mrs. Einerson. His comments and the poem are below:
This was a poem inspired by a teacher, Mary Lou Einerson. At WSVH she was required to teach many subjects. She was good at it. Here is my response to her teaching one day, when I recalled with awe all she had done for me. This poem very much understates her work, but it is difficult to explain some one with such an incredible talent for equipping young students. My poem follows:
The Teacher.
some years ago, a teacher mine, taught me skills for life,
She taught me how to speak and spell, and how to read and write.
She spoke of all the Greats, and told stories of the old,
The Industrial revolution, many such things she told.
She taught public speaking, Sociology, and health, too,
I'm sure she taught me other things; of those I have no clue.
But, I remember class time, sitting at my desk,
Counting down to pass time, and scenery picturesque.
I would hear her drone, on and on and on, But, now I miss her tone, that by now I'm sure
is gone.
Her learned words of wisdom, her warnings filled with grace,
Her gentle cynicism, her comforting embrace. Thirty years is long ago, and she was aging then,
Yes, I miss her; lo wish I could see her again.
teacher, if you're listening, I loved you then and still,
I cherish those learnings you gave to me, I guess I always will.
Jerry Maccoux
