Conference Keynote: "HOW I SEE IT"
Free and Open to the Public

Monday, June 13, 7 pm, Education Building room L196

1000 Bascom Mall, Madison WI 53706

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Timothy Cordes, MD, PhD, Psychiatry Dept. UW Hospital and Clinic
Tim Cordes, has an array of honors and titles ranging from son, brother, husband, father, author, inventor and trailblazing physician. He wrote a computer program that replicates 3D images using a range of audio tones and spatial cues, allowing proteins to be "visualized." Cordes was valedictorian of his class at the University of Notre Dame in 1998 and was accepted into the UW School of Medicine and Public Health's medical scientist training program, completing the notoriously challenging sequence that requires a student to finish both medical school and a Ph.D.-level research program (2007). Over the years, Cordes also earned black belts in jujitsu and tae kwon do and carried the Olympic torch during its cross-country journey to the Salt Lake City Games in 2002. This is a remarkable journey, and Tim is blind.

How does Tim Cordes see IT?
How has he overcome challenges that most of us have never been faced with? Why would he say "if everyone likes what you are doing, you probably are not doing anything worthwhile?"
