Do You Need a Voter ID?
The most common ID to be used for voting is a WI driver's license. If you don't have a state issued ID, US passport or military ID, an approved college student ID (dated, signed, and good for only 2 years) you need to go to the DMV and get a free state ID.
You Need a Birth Certificate to get a state ID
The League of Women Voters of Dane County is starting a
pilot project to help people get birth certificates.
· We need to find out how many people need help obtaining birth certificates.
· What states are most common, so we can estimate an average cost per birth certificate.
· We want to identify common problems in obtaining birth certificates - such as some states want a copy of a photo ID.
If you would like to participate, or volunteer to help - Contact the League of Women Voters of Dane County at 232-9447.
Please provide your name, state of birth, year of birth, & contact information. If chosen for the pilot project LWVDC will assist you to apply for a birth certificate, and pay for it. (WI charges $20 to search for the record, if found the first copy is 'free'.) If you are not chosen to participate in the pilot project LWVDC will keep your information on file and include you in the big project if it is funded.
