Subject: Badger Association event for families

Hello,

At the Badger Association we are working to build connections with families who have children who are blind or visually impaired. Attached is information about a Fall Breakfast we are hosting on Saturday, September 24 from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. featuring the following panelists:

a.. Stacy Grandt has three adult children, two of whom are visually impaired. Each took an interesting but different path through school and into adulthood. Stacy is the Outreach Director at the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and will speak about her experiences both as a parent and as a resource for other families.

a.. Nick Blasewitz is a student at UW-Milwaukee who enjoys traveling and is blind. Nick will be joined by his grandmother Jesse Blasewitz, who helped raise him. Both will speak about ways they made adaptations throughout Nick's childhood to help him become a well-rounded adult.

a.. Erica Weise has spent twenty-two years at the Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Children and Badger Association helping families adapt to their children's vision loss. She will offer insight into ways families can help their children learn skills and develop independence, both from her experiences as a Social Worker and as someone who is visually impaired.

Activities for children ages 6 - 18 who are blind or visually impaired will be offered during the parent panel time.

Please pass along this e-mail or distribute the attached flyer to any families you think might be interested in attending.

You are welcome to contact me anytime with questions or programming ideas.

Thanks,

Susan
