Dear Board of Directors and Council Friends and Supporters,

 

            Please join us on Wednesday, September 14, for Legislative Day at the Capitol.

 

            Now that the budget has passed, we are looking forward to reintroducing the Instructional Materials Accessibility Act, also known as the Braille Bill.  The bill's passage will require publishers to provide post-secondary accessible textbooks for students within two weeks of class starting or when the student requests such a text.  Support for this bill is the focus of our fall Legislative Day event, and we need your presence and voice. 

 

            The September 14 event will include morning presentations, a news conference after lunch to announce the circulation of a draft of the Braille Bill and a request for bill sponsorship and support.  Gary Goyke will schedule individual appointments in advance for you to meet with your local legislators, so you can speak on behalf of the bill's passage and ask your legislator to support it.  Please note on the registration form if you will help us with this important strategy.

 

  When you complete the registration form, please indicate if you plan to attend Legislative Day, if you'll be bringing any guests, and if you need assistance getting around the Capitol.
