Vision loss presents some obvious challenges, as well as other which are more subtle. The Tennessee Council of the Blind helps to meet these challenges by addressing the following areas:
The Council monitors political issues and works to promote legislation that will benefit the blind and visually impaired.
The Council works to communicate to both blind and sighted people that life without sight doesn't have to mean life without potential.
The Council works to advocate for the rights of Tennesseans with disabilities to ensure they have an equal opportunity to be productive and respected members of our society.
The Council connects its members to a network with other blind and vision impaired people to share resources, attend social events and provide help, support and encouragement.
