During the 2026 ACB Conference and Convention, members passed Resolution 2026-04: Funding to Institute of Museums and Library Services (IMLS). In support of the directives in this resolution, ACB has put together a new Speak4 campaign that anyone can use to encourage their representatives to fully fund IMLS for the 2027 fiscal year.
IMLS provided partial funding for 39 state Talking Book Libraries in FY2025. Continued federal funding for IMLS helps ensure that people who are blind or have low vision can access reading materials in accessible formats, including Braille, audiobooks, and the use of other specialized reading equipment. These vital services promote literacy, education, employment, and independence for the blind and low vision community.
