ACB’s 2026 convention is right around the corner, and there will be so many ways to get involved with ACB advocacy! As our members know, there are many ways to be an advocate, and many different forms that our advocacy takes.
One of the ways to get involved in advocacy at convention this year is by attending one of our advocacy-related sessions. A returning favorite, Advocacy Bootcamp will provide both new and seasoned advocates with valuable tools for their advocacy toolbox. There will also be additional advocacy sessions to attend, so be sure to pay close attention to the listed sessions on the convention website to make sure you don’t miss out!
Another way to get involved in advocacy at ACB is by involving yourself in the resolution process. ACB members, through their affiliates, vote on resolutions which involve key issues for the blind and low vision community. This democratic process is how ACB’s Board of Directors and staff receive direction regarding the future of ACB. This is also how ACB’s legislative imperatives are determined. Engaging in advocacy by voting on resolutions is extremely important and directly impacts ACB’s priorities.
Advocacy, especially in the world that we live in today, is incredibly crucial. Advocacy also encompasses a wide variety of actions, from those on the individual level all the way to the national and even the international level. We strongly encourage you to advocate with us this year at ACB’s convention in St. Louis.
