Call for Nominations for the 2023 Audio Description People’s Choice Award

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6, 2023The American Council of the Blind (ACB) announces that the Audio Description People’s Choice Award opens for nominations on June 6, 2023. The winners will be revealed during the 2023 ACB Audio Description Awards Gala, which will take place virtually on November 14th at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.

2023 ACB Convention Registration

The 2023 American Council of the Blind Conference and Convention takes place from June 19-July 7. The virtual portion begins June 19 with the Call to Order. Resolutions will take place from June 20-22, and Constitution and Bylaws will take place on June 23. ACB’s hybrid convention sessions begin on June 30 and end on July 7, with all in-person events taking place in Schaumburg, IL.

Statement on Global Accessibility Awareness Day from 52 National Disability Advocates for Digital Inclusion

On Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2023, the undersigned national disability organizations celebrate the transformative impact of accessible technology and call on the federal government to require websites and software applications to be accessible to and usable by people with disabilities. The roughly 61 million people with disabilities in the United States have a right to access employment, businesses, programs, and services, regardless of whether they are delivered in-person or online.

We are pleased to present to you the Class of 2023 DKM First-Timers who have met all requirements to be considered for and selected as recipients of this prestigious honor.

While honoring the legacy of ACB’s founding father, Durward K. McDaniel, since 1996, the Durward K. McDaniel (DKM) Fund Committee seeks to identify and honor two ACB members who demonstrate leadership potential with the DKM First-Timers award on an annual basis, one from east and one from west of the Mississippi River.
