The American Council of the Blind and VITAC with the Parent Company of The Elf on the Shelf® Make Christmas Eve Jolly and More Accessible for Kids Who Are Blind

The Elf on the Shelf® and Elf Pets® have fast become holiday mainstays, appearing in a wide variety of popular books, toys, and videos, and loved by children of all ages all around the world. Audio description is an added soundtrack that describes visual images for the benefit of people who are blind or have low vision.

ACB Rideshare Survey

The American Council of the Blind and our affiliate Guide Dog Users Inc. have received multiple complaints from members that rideshare drivers are refusing service to blind and low vision passengers and claiming that they were not wearing a mask to avoid disciplinary action. Casting Call for Paramount Players Feature Film: Need Your Eyes

Paramount is seeking actors who are blind or visually impaired to play the supporting role of Suzy for the film Need My Eyes.

The character Suzy is female, 11-14 years old to play 12 years old, open ethnicity. Suzy has a close friendship to her older sister Ash, who babysits her and orchestrates fun games of hide-and-seek while their parents are out of town. Having been blind since she was born, she inspires her sister Ash to sign up for an app called See For Me that helps blind individuals complete tasks.
