June 21, 2021 - Building on the success of the ACB virtual 2020 Conference & Convention, ACB will be hosting its 60th annual convention virtually, providing the opportunity to feature an exciting series of speakers, networking events and learning opportunities with ACB members and conference participants.

Changes Coming to ACB Radio

There’s a lot on the horizon for followers of ACB Radio. On July 1st, we are excited to announce the launch of the ACB Media Network, which will be the go to place for all of ACB’s digital media video and audio channels. More to come on that announcement, but for now we also wanted to share a very important update launching on June 27th for those who listen to ACB Radio using an Alexa-enabled device.

ACB Encourages State Assembly to Pass H-6004 Equal Access to Voting for Voters with Disabilities

June 16, 2021 – Providence, RI – The American Council of the Blind strongly encourages passage of H-6004 by the Rhode Island State Assembly. For the first time in the State’s history, H-6004 will enable equal access for voters with disabilities to vote independently and privately from home. All other eligible absentee voters have the ability to vote at home. Yet voters who cannot see, hold, or mark a paper ballot, are currently forced to give up their right to vote independently and privately, or vote at a polling location.

Disability Advocates Issue Statement Warning About the Paper Ballot Mandate in the For the People Act

June 16, 2021  WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the undersigned disability organizations express deep concerns over the paper ballot mandate included in the For the People Act (H.R. 1/S. 1). Additionally, organizations offer proposed changes to reduce the harm of the mandate to voters with disabilities.
