Kids and Families

Kids Explorers Club: 

Bring the kids (ages 6 to 12) for a great week of tours and fun in the Kids Explorer Club.  Games, crafts, swimming, and trips; every day is packed with fun.  Breakfast, lunch and snack included.  Open Sunday through Wednesday from 8:15 to 5:00, and on Thursday from 8:15 until after the banquet.

All-New Teen Blast! 

Don't be bored; have a blast with Teen Blast.  Be a Teen Blast volunteer; have fun on Teen Blast trips.  Teen Blast Launch Saturday at 2:00; pizza, prizes, and planning more cool stuff for the week.  For teens and young adults 13 and up.
 
Kids Explorer Club and Teen Blast participants must register and pay the convention administrative fee before attending any events.  Discounted tickets for events may be purchased on the pre-registration form.

The Rules, Please Read: 

Parents must accompany kids and teens under age 18 to their first Kids Explorer Club or Teen Blast event to sign required permission forms.  Necessary medications must be supplied each day.
Kids Explorer Club and Teen Blast cannot accept participants who are medically fragile.  Parents will be expected to remove children or teens who exhibit uncontrollable or highly inappropriate behaviors.

Sunday, July 7, Hayes

8:15 AM - 5:00 PM: Kids Explorers Club and COSI $15 ($20)

  • Great fun and exploration; big machines, space, oceans and much more. A huge 320,000-square-foot world of discovery, the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) was chosen America's #1 science museum for 2008 by Parents Magazine. Day includes breakfast, lunch, and COSI activities and giant screen movie.

Monday, July 8, Hayes

8:15 AM - 5:00 PM: Kids Explorers Club and Santa Maria $15 ($20)

  • Kids become sailors, explorers and pirates as they visit the Santa Maria, Christopher Columbus' flagship in which he sailed to the New World in 1492. Day also includes breakfast and lunch; games, swimming and crafts as time permits.

Tuesday, July 9, Hayes

8:15 AM - 5:00 PM: Kids Explorers Club and American Whistle Factory $15 ($20)

  • A day of games, swimming, and fun; includes a visit to the American Whistle Corporation. Discover what makes a whistle a whistle and see how whistles are made. Every kid gets a shiny new whistle as a souvenir. Breakfast and lunch included.

Wednesday, July 10, Hayes

8:15 AM - 5:00 PM: Kids Explorers Club and Baseball Game $15 ($20)

  • After a morning of breakfast and fun, kids will spend the afternoon at the Columbus Clippers baseball game. Watch the game, picnic on the lawn, play in the fountain. Includes breakfast, lunch, and other activities.

Thursday, July 11, Hayes

8:15 AM - 10:00 PM: Kids Explorers Club - Kings Island $20 ($25)

  • While the adults spend the day in general session and the evening at the banquet, kids and teens head out of town to Kings Island, the largest amusement and water park in the Midwest. From the K.I. Miami Valley Railroad, the Grand Carousel and White Water Canyon to thrills like Viking Fury, the Racer, and the Beast, from Planet Snoopy to Dinosaurs Alive to the Soak City Water Park, there's lots of thrills and chills for every age. Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Saturday, July 6, Hayes

2:00 PM: Teen Blast Launch $5 ($5)

  • Blast off for a week of service and fun. Get ready for the first Teen Blast project later that day and plan more projects for the week. Surprises, food and friends.

Monday, July 8, Hayes

11:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Teen Blast - Santa Maria $15 ($20)

  • 500 years ago Christopher Columbus and his men spent two months crossing the Atlantic Ocean and discovering America. The Santa Maria was his flagship; it was 98 feet long - about the length of 4 houses. No electricity, no TV, no Xbox, no fridge, no GPS. See how they guided the ship, what they did for fun, what they ate. Includes picnic lunch.

7:15 PM: Families Bingo Bonanza $5 ($5), Fairfield

  • From picture frames to postage stamps to progressive cover-alls - fun for everyone from tweens to teens to seniors. Lots of winners; lots of prizes.

11:00 AM - 3:30 PM: Teen Blast Baseball $15 ($20)

  • Blast on over to the ballpark for a game between the Columbus Clippers and the Indianapolis Indians. Includes lunch and a snack.
